Tate Britain: Untold Stories

Untold Stories is a project that explored the hidden narratives behind iconic artworks in the Tate Britain. Facebook and Mill+ partnered up to use augmented reality as a means of enhancing viewer engagement by describing the  untold sociopolitical and cultural challenges the artists faced during their time.

Pre-AI Photoshop, the process involved extensive digital painting, retouching, projection mapping, rigging, animation, and Spark AR implementation. There were 8 AR experiences in total and these marked the beginning of Tate’s goal of bringing more AR activations to their gallery. Shown here are captures of tests and some of the works in progress.
